A car burglar was caught in the act Tuesday morning.
Iowa City Police were called to the 700 block of 4th Avenue just after 8am Tuesday for a subject going through unlocked vehicles. A resident yelled at the man, who fled towards 3rd Avenue.
A subject matching the description of the suspect, 18-year-old Jeiden Fair, was located in the area. Police say he admitted to being in vehicles and stealing coins and a cellphone.
Fair is charged with 3rd Degree Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, an Aggravated Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of two years in prison.
Arrest records indicate Fair lives at the same Amber Lane address as 19-year-old Jihad Fair, who was arrested last Friday night after allegedly striking his adult brother with a chair while he was sleeping, then hitting him with a stick and biting him twice. There is no indication if Jeiden Fair was the victim in the case.
