A Coralville woman was taken into custody after her partner accused her of punching her while they shared a vehicle together.

According to police, 19-year-old Danielle Williams of 14th Avenue was in a vehicle on South Van Buren Street Monday just before 5:45pm with her partner, who she’s been in a romantic relationship with over the past year. The woman stated that the two were arguing when Williams struck her in the right side of her head with a closed fist. The blow caused pain and discomfort to the woman.

Williams was wanted on an outstanding warrant stemming from an incident this past October for a domestic abuse assault. She reportedly failed to appear for a case management conference on July 1st , causing the warrant to be issued.

Williams was charged with domestic abuse assault causing injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year if convicted.
