The University of Iowa has accepted another resignation from a top administrator and agreed to a settlement agreement that releases the university from his claims.
The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that Glen Mowery has managed the utilities enterprise since 2003, but agreed to resign last month in exchange for an additional six months of base salary. He was earning $168,715 a year, according to school records.
Mowery’s resignation comes in the wake of the official transfer of management of the school’s utilities to a private operator in March. ENGIE North America will run the system for the next 50 years in exchange for an upfront payment to the University of Iowa.
Mowery accused his supervisor of engaging in disparate treatment, excluding him from communications, decisions, and discussing retirement. The settlement doesn’t mention the new agreement as playing a role in the conflict.
There are no records of Mowery filing suit against the university or the Board of Regents.
The Gazette also reports that it’s the 11th settlement agreement the UI has signed in the last year, far more than the other state-run schools.
