A North Liberty man who pleaded guilty to charges that he threatened others with an Uzi is back behind bars after multiple firearms were found in his residence.

Probation officers conducted a check of the North Stewart Street residence of 24-year-old Michael McClinton on Friday. They say they discovered three firearms, 300 grams of marijuana edibles and approximately three ecstasy tabs. He was arrested on a probation violation.

McClinton reached a plea deal last March on charges stemming from an incident in July of 2019 at the Breckenridge Estates manufactured housing community on Taft Avenue. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says McClinton was trying to steal a car when he pointed an Uzi at three different individuals. He allegedly pressed the barrel of the gun against one victim’s face and forced him to exit the vehicle. While attempting to flee in the car, McClinton allegedly ran over two people, causing serious injury to a female victim. Investigators say McClinton then continued fleeing on foot with the Uzi still in his possession.

McClinton reached a plea deal and was given a suspended sentence.
