A Thursday afternoon accident in rural Johnson County has resulted in a fatality.
According to the Sheriff’s office, the Joint Emergency Communications Center received a report of a crash involving a Utility Terrain Vehicle at Newport Road Northeast. The vehicle was being driven by 62-year-old Julie Bell of North Liberty, and a passenger, 65-year-old Mary Kay Knight of Newport Road Northeast.
Bell lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll; Knight was pinned under the UTV and died at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s office, who was assisted by the Solon Fire Department, Johnson County Ambulance Service, and the county Medical Examiner Department.
