Additional charges have been revealed against an Iowa City man taken into custody after allegedly harboring a runaway juvenile girl he is having an ongoing sexual relationship with.

Iowa City police have charged 19-year-old Martiza Anderson with 3rd degree Sexual Abuse after the minor’s mother caught him having sex with her teenaged daughter at her home on Tuesday just before 1am.

In that instance, the mother called 911 saying that Anderson was in her daughter’s bedroom and caught them in the act; he allegedly got up, put his clothes on, crawled out the bedroom window and ran north from the home.

Authorities stopped Anderson and the girl on Pascha Parkway in North Liberty at about 2am Thursday after noticing their vehicle had a non-working brake light. A check of Anderson’s record showed his status as revoked until August 27th. There was also a non-served no contact order between Anderson and the teen, after the mother made it clear that she didn’t want her daughter to be with Anderson.

Anderson was charged with harboring a runaway against the wishes of a parent, and driving while license denied or revoked. With the sexual abuse charge, he could be sentenced to up to 13 years in prison.
