An Iowa City man  has been charged with posting a woman’s personal identification information on a fake Facebook account after threatening her life.

Police say that Friday around 10:15am, they received a call about a woman being threatened by 49-year-old Jeremy Mulvaney of East College Street. She told dispatch that he was pounding on her door, and after she failed to respond and locked the door, Mulvaney told her that he would kill her and that police wouldn’t be able to help her.

Mulvaney had left the scene before officers arrived.

Authorities contacted Mulvaney by phone and admitted to being at the woman’s residence, but refused to meet with officers, allegedly stating, “eff that.” He was told not to have further contact with the woman.

Within hours, Mulvaney is accused of sending texts, messaging, and calling the woman. Police say he then set up a fake profile on Facebook and posted the woman’s personal identification information, including photos of her driver’s license, social security card, and credit cards.

Mulvaney has been charged with 1st degree Harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a prison sentence of up to two years if convicted.
