A Walford man was arrested for OWI after being observed driving into oncoming traffic Sunday morning.

Arrest reports indicate 19-year-old Matthew Altenhofen of E Avenue West crossed the center line multiple times on 120th Street, and was also driving into the oncoming traffic lane. He was pulled over, and the officer on scene reportedly detected the strong odor of marijuana. Altenhofen reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes, and seemed “spaced out,” according to the report.

He allegedly admitted to drinking alcohol the previous night, and submitted to a PBT. His blood alcohol level was measured as .153% and a Datamaster test showed the same result.

Altenhofen was charged with his first OWI, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year if convicted.
