An alleged road rage incident has led to the arrest of a Solon man who investigators say parked his car in the middle of oncoming traffic, then challenged another motorist to a fight.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a reckless driver at Curtis Bridge Road Northeast and 120th Street at 9:39 Friday morning. The reporting party said a driver in a 2011 BMW was refusing to let him pass. The suspect, later identified as 64-year-old David Farmer of Coral Avenue Northeast, then allegedly parked his car in the oncoming lane of 120th Street and tried to confront the caller. The caller said Farmer was stumbling around and appeared intoxicated.
Farmer was located by deputies in the nearby BP parking lot, backing out of a parking spot and attempting to leave. Investigators say he showed multiple signs of intoxication and admitted to drinking two beers the previous night. He failed field sobriety testing, and registered a blood alcohol content of .239 on a portable Breathalyzer test and .299 on a Datamatser.
Farmer was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
