Three Cedar Rapids residents were displaced by an early morning house fire.

According to a news release from the Cedar Rapids Fire Department, firefighters were called to 7015 Brookhaven Drive Northwest at 12:21am Sunday for a house fire with one person possibly still inside.  A few minutes later, before fire crews could arrive, everyone was reported safely out of the structure.

Arriving firefighters found heavy fire coming from the garage, extending through the roof and spreading into the house. The blaze was brought under control within 30 minutes, with a family dog being rescued through a basement window.

The house sustained heavy, fire, smoke and water damage. The three occupants were displaced.

The CRFD news release indicates medical attention was required, but it does not list the recipient or recipients.

The owners of the property are listed as Randy and Shawn Gibbs.

The fire remains under investigation.
