Iowa City Police investigate armed robbery with shot fired

Iowa City Police are investigating a reported armed robbery during which at least one gunshot was fired.

According to an ICPD news release, at approximately 12:23 pm Thursday officers responded to a suspicious activity report of three men running out of an apartment in the 400 block of South Governor Street wearing facemasks and carrying a gun. Upon arrival, officers determined that a robbery had just occurred inside of a residence. At least one firearm that was discharged during the incident. Following the robbery, the three men fled the scene in a white four-door car. The adult male victim was not injured during the incident.

Iowa City Police are asking for the community’s help to identify anyone involved with this incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact Sergeant Jerry Blomgren at 319-356-5275.
