Allegedly flying by a police officer at 90 miles an hour on Interstate 80 led to the arrest of a Tiffin man on Operating While Intoxicated charges.

A state trooper was traveling westbound on the interstate near the 380 interchange at 2:18am and observed a Dodge van catching up to him quickly. Using rear radar, the trooper clocked the driver at 90 miles an hour in the 55 mile per hour construction zone.

A stop identified the driver as 28-year-old Brendan Dudley of Village Drive. An odor of ingested alcohol was detected, and Dudley reportedly admitted to consuming alcohol earlier with his last drink around 1am.

A field sobriety test showed measurable impairment, and a Datamaster reading of Dudley’s blood alcohol level showed it at .116.

He was taken into custody and charged with his first OWI, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to a year if convicted.
