An Iowa City man was taken to the Johnson County Jail Tuesday night on a warrant stemming from an incident last week.

Police responded to the 800 block of East Market Street around 4:30pm on June 24th to speak with a woman who has a no-contact order on 49-year-old Sean Adams in regard to a motor vehicle theft.

As the officer pulled up, Adams was leaving on a bicycle. The woman acknowledged that it was Adams leaving the scene. While interviewing the woman, the officer says that Adams called her twice and texted her. Another officer on scene was holding the woman’s phone and observed a text that said, “I found your car, don’t send the police.”

A warrant was requested for Adams’ arrest, and he was apprehended last night. He’s been charged with violation of the no-contact order.

Adams was observed on May 26th when an officer was conducting a business check at Two Dogs Pub around 7:30pm, sitting down with the protected party having dinner. A search incident to arrest in that incident reportedly found a medicine bottle with marijuana, his third such offense.

The initial assault causing the no-contact order occurred on March 31st.
