IC man charged with string of vehicle burglaries

An Iowa City man was taken into custody early Tuesday after allegedly being found with numerous items taken from vehicles on the city’s east side.

19-year-old Quincy Russom of Clearwater Court was observed by officers just before 1am, carrying numerous items in his hands while wearing latex gloves. When confronted, he allegedly admitted to burglarizing vehicles in the 4900 block of Sheffield Place and the 800 block of Barrington Road.

Among the items recovered included phone chargers, insurance and registration information from one vehicle, a Kate Spade wallet and softball uniform from another, and a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses from a third vehicle.

Russom was taken into custody and charged with three counts of 3rd degree Burglary  of a Motor Vehicle, and one count of 4th degree Theft. If convicted on all counts, Russom could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison.
