An Iowa City man who has violated a no-contact order with the protected party over a half dozen times was taken into custody Friday afternoon after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

The latest of several violations occurred at noon on June 14th, when the protected party reported that she was in her yard around noon when 35-year-old Corbin Ranslem drove by her house. She recognized him, and reports that as Ranslem drove by, he displayed a middle finger in her direction.

The no-contact order stems from a March 30th incident of alleged domestic abuse. Ranslem received a deferred sentence in that incident, but has broken the no-contact order on March 31st, April 13th, April 15th, April 27th, June 6th, June 7th and the 14th.  A judge extended the no-contact order to May of 2025 last month.

The woman reports being fearful of being outside and letting her children play outside knowing that Ranslem drives past her residence.

Ranslem was booked into the county jail just after 5pm Friday and was released Saturday afternoon. A contempt hearing scheduled for June 16th is to be reset in the coming days.
