University of Iowa Football strength and conditioning coach Chris Doyle won’t leave Iowa City empty-handed.

The University announced Monday morning that a separation agreement had been reached between the school and Doyle on Sunday, ending Doyle’s tenure at the end of the day Monday.

The statement from the Athletic Department announced that the University of Iowa Office of General Counsel has engaged the Kansas City law firm of Husch Blackwell to conduct an independent review of issues and allegations relating to racial disparities within the football program.

As previously announced, Raimond Braithwaite will continue as interim director of the football strength and conditioning program.

The agreement was signed by Athletic Director Gary Barta, University of Iowa President Bruce Harreld and Doyle.

The document calls for two lump-sum payments of $556,249.50 on August 1 of this year and January 1, 2021, which amounts to 15 months of Doyle’s base salary for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. Health and dental insurance benefits are to be provided to Doyle for 15 months, or until Doyle finds employment that includes those benefits.

In exchange for the considerations, Doyle agreed not to seek future employment with the UI, and agreed to hold harmless and not to sue the university, the State of Iowa, the Board of Regents, or any affiliated releasees.
