A Coralville man was taken into custody after an alleged assault that reportedly included him swinging a chair at a woman.

Police say 44-year-old Timothy McCoy of 5th Street was at an outside gathering on the 900 block of Boston Way at about 3am on June 4th.  The alleged victim stated that she dropped her phone, and when she and McCoy went to pick it up at the same time, he struck her with an object in her left eye. She then got up and ran to her car, but not before McCoy allegedly swung a chair at her, which struck her in the arm.

McCoy was booked into the Johnson County Jail Monday at 5:15am and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year.

A no-contact order was requested between the two parties involved.
