An Iowa City woman faces charges that she threatened her intimate partner with a knife, then slashed the person’s tires.
According to Iowa City Police, 35-year-old Jennifer Schmidt was involved in an altercation with the alleged victim at their Amhurst Street residence just after 8pm on June 1st. Schmidt allegedly hit the other person in the forehead with her palm, leaving a red welt.
Police say Schmidt then displayed a knife and threatened to kill the victim. She allegedly went on to use the knife to stab the front and rear driver’s side tires of the person’s car.
Schmidt was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 8pm Wednesday and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault While Displaying a Weapon. If convicted, she faces a maximum of two years behind bars.
