An Iowa City woman was taken into custody early Sunday after being found in a vehicle that had been reported stolen.
According to the arrest report, 34-year-old Jamie Hunt of the Town and Campus Apartments was stopped at the intersection of Highway 1 and Riverside Drive at approximately 12:30am. The vehicle she was operating had been reported stolen out of Iowa City on May 20th.
Police did not provide details other than to say that Hunt gave serveral reasons for having the vehicle, but none of them equated to her lawfully obtaining it.
With the vehicle valued at approximately $17,000, Hunt was charged with Theft in the 1st degree. That’s a Class C Felony punishable by a prison sentence of up to ten years if convicted.
