A Coralville man who allegedly assaulted a woman he shares a child with was apprehended the next day when he went to visit her at an area hotel.
According to police, 40-year-old Zechiariah Talbot of Boston Way was with the woman at his residence, in violation of a no-contact order issued last month in Scott County.
Wednesday at 2:05am, Talbot is accused of grabbing the woman and slamming her to the ground, causing her head to hit. He also reportedly told the woman that he was going to kill her. The woman suffered pain to her neck and to the back of her head.
A warrant was issued for Talbot’s arrest, and a second no-contact order was requested.
Thursday at approximately 5:45pm, Talbot allegedly went to the Heartland Inn, where the woman was staying. Officers found Talbot walking in the hallway leading to the lobby where the woman was, and staff informed police that Talbot had been at the hotel the previous day as well.
Talbot was arrested and charged with 2 counts of violation of no-contact order, 2nd offense Domestic Abuse Assault, and 1st degree Harassment. If convicted on all charges, Talbot could be sentenced to up to four years in prison.
