Stray bullet during ongoing dispute wounds resident in home

An ongoing dispute on the southeast side of Iowa City led to a resident being struck by a stray bullet while inside their residence.

According to a release from the ICPD, officers responded to the area of 2200 Taylor Drive at approximately 12:15pm  for multiple reports of gunshots.  Responding officers learned that an ongoing dispute had escalated and at least one of the people involved shot at a group of people who had left the area prior to the officers’ arrivals.

A resident inside a home nearby was struck by a stray bullet, wounding them. It was determined to be a non-life-threatening injury, and the person was treated by ambulance personnel at the scene.

No arrests have been made. This incident is under investigation.
