A Coralville man was taken into custody Saturday afternoon after an alleged fight over money with his wife escalated.
Police say that 42-year-old Mohamed Nasreldin of 9th Street and the woman were arguing around 3pm when she reportedly asked him for a divorce. Shortly afterward, Nasrelden is accused of hitting the woman in the right arm and chest area. The woman reacted by pushing Nasrelden away and running out of the apartment.
Police say the woman had bruising on her upper right arm.
Nasrelden was taken into custody and charged with domestic abuse assault causing injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year if convicted.
A no-contact order was requested between the two parties.
