An area transient who has been trespassed several times from various properties for begging for money has been arrested after allegedly trying to steal two bottles of liquor from a grocery store.
On May 13th at 12:40am, 34-year old Trell Grant was taken into custody after being found at the Kum & Go on Muscatine Avenue after being trespassed from the location. A check of records showed that staff requested the trespass charge on March 20th, and since then, police have received more than ten calls about Grant returning to the property. In this case, he was taken into custody.
Two days later, Trell allegedly was at the First Avenue Hyvee at two different times in the morning. The first time, Trell reportedly took two bottles of liquor and concealed them on his person, making no attempt to pay for them as he left. He came back and allegedly took another bottle, but this time was stopped by store employees. They say the value of items Trell is accused of taking is over $190.
He was charged with 5th degree theft, a simple misdemeanor, and was ordered to appear before a judge on June 19th.
