A reporter who went viral after a run-in with some bison has taken a new job…and it’s in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City television market.
Deion Broxton of KTVM NBC Montana became an internet sensation in March. He’d been recording a promo for a news story at Yellowstone National Park when a group of bison began wandering towards him. The video shows his eyes darting to his side as he exclaims, ““Oh, my god. Oh, my god,” and “Oh, no, I ain’t messing with you,” before he put his equipment in his car and got safely inside. The Baltimore native later said one bison had been staring him down and began trotting towards him.
Instead of deleting the video or saving it for his own amusement, Broxton decided to tweet it himself. And the rest is internet history.
Broxton announced on-air Friday that he had taken a job at KTVM’s “sister station” in Cedar Rapids. KTVM is owned by Sinclair Broadcasting, which also owns CBS2 and Fox 28 in Cedar Rapids. Morning anchor Mitch Fick confirmed on his twitter that Broxton was coming to the stations.
There is no word on when Broxton will begin on-air in Cedar Rapids.
