A late night traffic stop Thursday in North Liberty led to the arrest of an Iowa City man on drug charges.
According to police, an officer conducted a traffic stop after he noticed a vehicle being driven by 45-year-old Todd Rothenberger of Reno Street traveling in the wrong lane of Lininger Lane.
The officer reported seeing drug paraphernalia in plain sight when he made contact with Rothenberger, and conducted a probable cause search. Several small bags of a crystal-like substance consistent with meth was found, as well as a quantity of marijuana.
A check of Rothenberger’s driving record showed his status as revoked.
Rothenberger was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance second offense, marijuana possession, and driving while revoked. If convicted on the charges, he could be sentenced to up to four years in prison.
