An area transient with a history of theft charges has been arrested again, this time for allegedly taking a cash deposit from an Iowa City business.
Police say that on the evening of April 14th, 32-year-old Troy Frazier, whose address is listed as Shelter House, was observed walking to the back of the Cricket Wireless store on Muscatine Avenue and taking a money deposit worth a reported $406.
According to the arrest report, Frazier went into the back of the store to use the restroom, and grabbed the money from an unlocked container while there.
Staff at the store identified Frazier as the suspect on May 9th, and he was arrested. He’s been charged with 4th degree theft, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year.
Frazier was at the Coralville Super 8 the night of April 19th, and was asked to leave. He reportedly not only refused to do so, but hid in a bathroom. Police say Frazier had previously been trespassed on January 12th of this year, and was taken into custody.
When being processed by police, Frazier also allegedly had two Amazon packages on his person, from two different victims. One was valued at $15, and the other nearly $50. Police contacted the two victims and they denied knowing Frazier.
On January 14th at 12:40pm,Frazier entered the office of a counselor at Kirkwood Community College on Lower Muscatine Road. While in the office, Frazier allegedly made statements that were sexual in nature to the employee, while displaying condoms. He was charged with simple harassment in that incident.
Court records show a charge of 3rd degree burglary from an incident this past October 9th, when he’s accused of taking keys from the unattended front desk at the Hilton Garden Inn and spending the night with no means to pay for the room. He also has two charges of unauthorized use of a credit card from November 4th, when he allegedly used credit cards found in a wallet to purchase cigarettes at the Coralville Walmart and booking a room at the Americinn on HolidayRoad.
He faces several years in prison if convicted on previous charges.
