IOWA CITY, Iowa – After months of contact with the Iowa football team, 2022 defensive back Isaac Thompson’s patience paid off with a scholarship offer on Monday.
The St. Louis, Mo., native holds over 20 scholarship offers, including the likes of Michigan, Penn State and Southern Cal.
“It’s great because they were probably the first school to recognize me and show interest,” Thompson said. “(Special teams) coach (LeVar) Woods explained how they liked to take time to build a relationship with their recruits and how they want to make sure they have a player that would fit good in their system.”
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Thompson said Iowa’s continued interest will remain an important factor when he decides to narrow down his options.
“It shows that they have been with me since day one and that they are really high on me,” Thompson said.
Thompson said that he doesn’t have any favorites among his current list of offers, Iowa’s penchant for producing NFL defensive backs stands out to him.
Iowa currently has one player committed to its 2022 recruiting class in four-star defensive end Aaron Graves, who has been verbally committed to the Hawkeyes since last June.
