The Johnson County Auditor’s Office is asking for your patience while you await your absentee ballot.

In a news release, John Deeth from the auditor’s office says they are currently processing a record number of absentee ballot requests while still adhering to social distancing requirements. Some of the tens of thousands of requests for absentee ballots have already been sent out, but others have not. Deeth says it’s not unusual to have situations where someone may receive a ballot well before their spouse.

Those interested in inquiring about the status of their ballot should first check the Iowa Secretary of State’s website:

https://sos.iowa.gov/elections/absenteeballotstatus/absentee/search.

If the search on the Iowa Secretary of State Website comes up blank, the auditor’s office is asking voters to email auditor@co.johnson.ia.us with their information and an update will be provided.

Absentee ballot requests are due by May 22nd.

The primary election is June 2nd.
