University of Iowa president Bruce Harreld says that the school is “preparing for everything” as administrators address how to start up the fall semester.
In an interview with the Daily Iowan, Harreld says he’s incorporating a team of community members who are working to ensure the UI makes the best decision in the fall to keep students safe.
One of the options includes the possibility of students and professors alike wearing PPE while in class and conducting testing for coronavirus antibodies.
An e-mail sent out this week said the university’s focus will be in health and safety procedures, classroom sizing and scheduling, IT support, HR policies, facilities management, finance/budgeting, and research.
With the Iowa Legislature currently on hiatus, Harreld tells the DI that they’re uncertain on how much funding will be available for the 2021 fiscal year and what actions will need to be taken to sustain operations.
