An Iowa City woman was taken into custody early Sunday after an alleged domestic incident that reportedly included her biting the father of her child on the arm.
According to police, the altercation occurred after 3:30am at the Clearwater Court residence of 24-year-old Tessa Kindred. She and the man share one minor child. They apparently got into an argument, and Kindred said she was going to take the children away with her.
The man blocked her from gaining access to the children, and that’s when Kindred is accused of shoving the man and biting him on the arm. She then called for another person to assist, and police say that person shoved the witness out of the way and then grabbed the victim and shoved them out of the way, causing them to hit their head on a wall.
Police noted that the man has a red circular mark consistent with being bitten. The children reportedly witnessed the altercation.
Kindred was taken into custody and charged with domestic abuse assault causing injury and child endangerment. If convicted on the charges, she could be sentenced to up to three years in prison.
