All Johnson County voters will be getting an absentee ballot request for the June 2 primary in the mail on or about Thursday, April 30. That’s according to the Johnson County Auditor’s Office.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the auditor’s office is recommending voters stay safe and vote by mail for the primary, and the Iowa Secretary of State’s office is sending postage-paid request forms to every active registered voter in the state.

Voters who can print forms at home are encouraged to do so before the statewide mailing arrives. Forms are available at jcauditor.com and can be mailed to the auditor’s office at 913 S. Dubuque St., Iowa City 52240, or dropped off in their drop slot at the front door.

Requests must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 22. Since the June 2 election is a partisan primary, voters will need to select Democratic or Republican on the request form to get the correct ballot.

After May 22, only in-person voting options are available.

More information about the June 2 primary is at jcauditor.com, or voters may call 319-356-6004.
