A local transient known as “Warpath” lived up to his nickname after a pair of recent altercations.

The first incident occurred on April 4th, when Iowa City Police were called to Cross Park Place just before 1:30pm for a report of a fight. One of the participants was identified as 43-year-old James Klinkenberg, also known as “Warpath”. Klinkenberg had a bloody nose and admitted to drinking whiskey earlier in the morning. He showed multiple signs of intoxication, estimated he was a “3” on a scale of 1-10 for intoxication, and had a blood alcohol concentration over .08%. He was charged with Public Intoxication.

Police were called back to Cross Park Place just before 11:15am on April 9th after Klinkenberg allegedly punched another resident during an argument. He was charged with Assault.

Later that day Klinkenberg was charged with having an open container of alcohol on Southgate Avenue.
