An Iowa City man was taken into custody after allegedly violating a no-contact order.
According to police, 52-year-old Thomas Warren Jr. sent two text messages to the woman on Monday. An investigation reportedly revealed that the message came from a phone number known to belong to Warren.
Police say there is a lengthy history between Warren and the woman, and there is both a civil and criminal no-contact order in place between the two parties. They add that Warren should know that any text message sent to the victim would intimidate, alarm, or annoy her.
Court records show Warren has been convicted of harassment at least three times in the past; April 2016, February 2017 and January 2018.
Warren was booked at the Johnson County Jail Wednesday afternoon, charged with violation of no-contact order and Harassment in the first degree, an aggravated misdemeanor. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to two years in prison.
