Two Chicago men have been charged with murder and aiding and abetting in connection with a Christmas night shooting in Coralville.

According to Coralville Police, a warrant was issued last week for the arrests of 19-year-old Milton McAbee and 18-year-old Elijah McAbee. Both were taken into custody Friday: Milton McAbee by the Radcliff, KY Police Department and Elijah McAbee by the Elizabethtown, KY Police Department. Both are awaiting extradition to Iowa.

The McAbee’s are charged in connection with the Christmas night shooting death of 30-year-old Gregory Jackson of Iowa City. Jackson was one of four people shot on the 900 block of Boston Way. Jackson later died at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as a result of multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. The remaining three victims received non-life-threatening injuries.

Coralville Police say that while they were aware of the events leading up to the shooting early on in their investigation, they were hampered by uncooperative victims and witnesses. Three CrimeStoppers tips moved the case forward significantly, leading to Friday’s arrests.

Milton McAbee is charged with 1st Degree Murder, while Elijah McAbee is charged with Aiding and Abetting 1st Degree Murder and Attempted Murder. If convicted on the murder charges, each McAbee faces life in prison.

Coralville Police say additional charges and defendants are possible.
