An Iowa City man was arrested Thursday after allegedly sending multiple harassing messages to a woman.
Police say the victim received the messages from 52-year-old Thomas Warren of Hastings Avenue between March 26th and April 1st. The messages came in multimedia message format, and a search warrant reportedly gathered evidence that the home number sending the emails was registered to Warren.
The warrant allowed police to obtain a phone record log that allegedly showed the messages were sent from Warren’s account to the victim’s email address.
A warrant for his arrest was granted and executed Thursday; judge Jason Burns ordered that Warren be subject to electronic-ankle monitoring, granted a no-contact order request between the two parties, and set a preliminary hearing for April 20th.
If convicted on the 1st degree Harassment charge, he could be sentenced to up to two years in prison.
