With everyone spending more time at home, it makes sense that a Coralville man wanted to get his video game system from a woman’s residence. But if that woman has a no-contact order against him, it makes less sense.
26-year-old James Duncan allegedly tried to get around the order by sending a text message to the mother of the protected party Saturday night, asking her to speak to the protected party on his behalf.
When police spoke to Duncan, he admitted to sending the text message, reportedly stating that he only asked the mother because he didn’t want the protected party to get mad at him.
The protection order had been issued just that morning, and clearly states that Duncan cannot communicate with the protected party in person or through any other means, including third persons.
That led to Duncan being taken into custody Saturday night, charged with contempt for violating the no-contact order. He was released Sunday morning.
