Cedar Rapids woman arrested after February incident involving homemade THC candy

A Cedar Rapids woman was taken into custody over the weekend for her alleged February involvement in making homemade THC candy at a North Liberty residence.
Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Cherry Court just after 1:45pm Febraury 1st on report of a physical domestic assault involving 37-year-old Amanda Spencer of Terrace Hill Drive Northeast. While investigating, officers allegedly observed the strong odor of marijuana coming from the apartment, and got a search warrant.
When the warrant was executed, officers discovered a large amount of homemade candy that contained THC and peanut butter cookies that also contained the drug in the residence’s refrigerator.
The items were located on the middle shelf, reportedly well with in reach of Spencer’s 7-year-old child.
A warrant for Spencer’s arrest was issued on February 17th, and she was taken into custody Saturday at 10:12pm. She’s been charged with Child Endangerment, a Controlled Substance violation, and Failure to Affix Drug Stamp. If convicted on all charges, Spencer could be sentenced to up to 12 years in prison.
