Fire at UI Communications Building Monday night

The Iowa City Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of a Monday night fire at the University of iowa Communications Center.
In a release from the City, firefighters responded to the fire at 116 South Madison Street at about 7:15pm. Crews arrived four minutes later and came upon a large rubbish fire in the first floor. FIre department personnel entered the building and had the fire under contril in leass than a half hour.
The building is in the process of being demolished.
No injuries were reported and fire was contained to the first floor of the three-story building. No construction equipment or surrounding buildings sustained any damage.
