The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics has put out an urgent request for donations of protective equipment.
According to the hospital, they have enough face shields for staff who are providing patient care and those doing screenings at hospital entrances, but want to provide the shields to all employees.
The post on the hospital’s website is asking that the face shields be lightweight and adjustable and that the shield extends below the chin.
They’re also asking for donations of N95 masks, surgeon maskes, face masks that have eye shields attached, and isolation gowns. The website says the hospital is in “critical need” of these items, as they attempt to preserve the supplies they have.
Most hospitals have suspended elective, non-life threatening and non-urgent surgeries and procedures until further notice.
