An overnight fire damaged an Iowa City apartment.
According to an Iowa City Fire Department news release, crews were called to 929 Iowa Avenue just after midnight Sunday. The first fire unit arrived in approximately five minutes and reported fire showing from a second floor window, on the west side of the apartment. Fire crews entered the apartment and brought the fire under control in approximately 25 minutes.
Iowa City firefighters were assisted by crews from North Liberty, Coralville, Solon, West Branch and Hills.
No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. Total property damage is estimated to be $80,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the ICFD Fire Marshal.
