A local extortion artist is back behind bars after allegedly threatening his mother after a five-day cocaine binge.

37-year-old Erhan Kraina was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 12:15 Friday afternoon. Kraina was on probation after pleading guilty to an extortion charge and multiple counts of 3rd Degree Theft last May. On multiple occasions in recent years, Kraina allegedly told people he needed money to get his car fixed or out of impound, or needed to call a locksmith. He never paid the victims back, and later admitted to spending the money on drugs.

Kraina violated his probation by allegedly using cocaine and threatening his mother. Police say he admitted over the phone to a supervising agent that he had been awake for five straight days after using cocaine continuously. During the phone call, he allegedly threatened to kill his mother and himself.

Online records state Kraina presents an “ongoing risk” due to his “escalating violent behavior involving his deteriorating mental health and ongoing cocaine use, coupled with his violent history”.

Bond is set at $13,000.
