A new trial date has been set for an Illinois man accused of raping a woman in her Iowa City apartment.

22-year-old Kameron Jordan of Downers Grove, IL faces a 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse charge. Jordan was originally set to stand trial last week, but online records show he was granted a continuance. Judge Andrew Chappel has since set a trial date for July 28th. A case management conference is set for May 29th.

Jordan was arrested in the fall of 2018 for an incident which allegedly took place in October of 2017. Police say he was visiting someone in Iowa City when he entered that person’s roommate’s room and began masturbating and touching her while she was asleep.

The woman told police she woke up during the act and yelled at Jordan, at which time he dropped to the floor to hide from the woman. She eventually fell back asleep, and police say Jordan then got into her bed, covered her mouth and held her down while forcing her to have sex.

When the victim’s roommate – whom Jordan had been visiting – sent him a text message later, Jordan apologized for his choices, saying he was “in a remorse and self-disgust filled haze.”

If convicted, Jordan faces up to 10 years in prison.
