List of postponements, cancellations, and closings announced due to coronavirus outbreak

Area organizations and businesses are announcing closings, cancellations and postponements in response to the community spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Shelter House – Book sale scheduled for March 28-29 postponed to July (no definite date yet set)

Iowa River Power and Flannigan’s have closed for a two week period, at which time they will reevaluate and update their hours

FilmScene is voluntarily closing until April 2; all planned programming will either be cancelled or rescheduled

The Iowa City Bird Club has cancelled its birding course and field trips through the end of the month

The North Liberty Community Center is closed through April 12th; the Easter Egg Hunt scheduled for April 3rd has been postponed to a yet-to-be determined date.

ACT has rescheduled its April 4th National Test Day to June 13th

Iowa City Public Library and Bookmobile service closed through April 5th

Iowa City Parks and Rec have closed all centers and public park restrooms through April 5th

Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption Center closed to the public through April 5th; call 356-5295 if you need to drop off an animal or would like to schedule an adoption appointment

HACAP Food Reservior will continue distributing food, including through their Mobile Food Pantries, but are distributing with pre-boxed food; clients are asked to remain in their vehicles to minimize personal contact. The Coralville Food Pantry is following the same procedure.

The League of Women Voters of Johnson County has cancelled the legislative forum scheduled for March 28th

Mission Creek Festival April 1-4 has been postponed to a yet-to-be determined date

Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP) has made changes to operations. Modified services and protocol changes will be re-evaluated and updated by April 13

The Englert Theatre has postponed all events through April 8th; the Jaimie Branch show on March 19th has been cancelled.

The City of Cedar Rapids is requesting all Cedar Rapids bars and restaurants close for St. Patrick’s Day to discourage citizens from congregating in large crowds. Based on health advice related to the spread of COVID-19, City officials believe allowing normal St. Patrick’s Day activity will cause a public safety hazard. Restaurants and bars are also asked to follow Governor Reynolds’ emergency disaster declaration guidelines.

The Solon American Legion has cancelled the next two Lenten Fish Frys on March 20th and 27th; they will make a determination on the April 3rd and 10th Frys at a later date.

Regina High School has cancelled all their Lenten Fish Frys

Iowa Democratic Party has postponed its state convention scheduled for Saturday March 21

Kirkwood Community College has suspended all face-to-face classes, including labs and hands-on courses, through April 10. Students can expect to hear from their instructor by March 20 at the latest.

Mirabitos Restaurant in North Liberty has announced they will be closed until further notice.

All services available at Iowa DOT driver and identification service centers will be available by appointment beginning Tuesday, March 17. We ask that customers make appointments to reduce the number of people waiting in service centers in an effort to limit community spread of COVID-19. Appointments can be made online or by calling 515-244-8725.

Midtown Family Restaurants remain open. Due to the governor’s declaration, they will offer carryout and curb service only.

Several City of Cedar Rapids facilities will be closed to the general public effective through April 13, 2020. This includes:
City Hall (101 1st St SE); City Services Center (500 15th Avenue SW); Cedar Rapids Water Administration (1111 Shaver Road NE)
Central Fire Station (713 1st Ave SE); Animal Care and Control (900 76th Ave Dr SW); Cedar Rapids Police Station (505 1st St SW)
Emergency services continue.

Need Pizza in Cedar Rapids is closed St. Patrick’s Day and will make an announcement on their plans going forward soon.

Riverside Casino will be closed with a tentative reopening date of March 31

Deery Brothers Ford Lincoln remains open with business as usual, and offers pick up and drop off service options to reduce social contact. See their Facebook post for more details.

Monica’s remains open and is offering curbside pickup for call-in orders. 319-338-7400.

The City of Coralville has announced that beginning March 17, the following facilities are closed through April 12 due to health precautions for COVID-19: Public Library, Recreation Center, Center for Performing Arts. Parks, Trails and Brown Deer remain open, and transit buses continue to run.

Due to the Corona Virus the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has temporarily suspended the on-site jail visitation. Off-site jail visitation information can be found at inmatecanteen.com

Bread Garden Market has announced revised hours, from 7am to 8pm, but ALL departments — grocery, deli, wine, cheese, produce, pastries, meat, coffee — are fully operational. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are still being offered and have carryout and grab-and-go-options. 319-354-4246

Theatre Cedar Rapids will remain closed until at least May 15th

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program suspended until further notice; further questions can be addressed by email to vita@uiowa.edu or by calling 319-335-0857.

Big Grove Brewery has suspended in-house service and will continue to offer curbside or to go food and beverage service (packaged craft beer) at the Iowa City and Solon locations. Iowa City’s location is closed on the 17th and will reopen on the 18th.

Johnson County Public Health has delayed the news conference scheduled for 1pm Tuesday to 4:30pm. It will be streamed on their Facebook page.

Bo James is selling corned beef and cabbage and reubens until 2pm today, carryout only, and will close until further notice after 4. 319-337-4703

The city of North Liberty will be closing public buildings effective at 4pm today until at least April 13th; more information is available at www.northlibertyiowa.org

Hilltop Tavern announced that they will remain open 11am-11pm for curbside pickup, cash only. 319-338-3063

Sport Clips has announced reduced hours: Monday-Friday Noon-6pm; Saturday-Sunday 10am-4pm

Enjoyabowl in downtown Iowa City has closed until further notice

Johnson County government buildings, except for the courthouse, will be closed to the public until further notice at the end of business March 17th.

Fareway has changed hours. They will be open from 8-9 for the elderly and high risk customers and will be open from 9am to 7pm Mondays through Saturdays.
