Johnson County has seen its first patient to have COVID-19 from community-acquired transmission.
Governor Kim Reynolds made the announcement Sunday night and is expected to speak at a news conference later today.
An e-mail from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics states that the patient presented for emergency care with COVID-19 symptoms and was admitted to the hospital. The patient was masked and staff members took appropriate caution.
This is the second case of COVID-19 being treated at the UIHC.
University of Iowa Health Care has a 24-hour manned helpline to answer community questions. Personnel will provide steps to prevent illness, how to keep workplaces, school and communities safe, and what UI Health Care is doing to address the pandemic.
