A Saturday morning crash on Interstate 380 has led to one arrest.

The Iowa State Patrol responded to the crash site on southbound I-380 just south of the Swisher/Shueyville exit at 8:45am. 32-year-old Jameson Reed of Washington, Iowa was the driver of a Ford F-250 that had been involved.

According to the arrest report, while Reed was waiting in the State Patrol vehicle as the citation was being written, the trooper noticed the smell of ingested alcohol. Reed allegedly told the officer he’d been drinking late into the night, and stopped around 3am.

The trooper offered Reed a breath test, which registered a blood alcohol content over .08%. Reed then allegedly did poorly on some field sobriety tests before refusing to perform others. He was transported to the University of Iowa Police Department, where he again refused testing. His BAC was once again recorded at over .08%.

Reed refused an offer to call someone who could come and assist him. He was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated, Failure to Maintain Control and No Proof of Financial Responsibility.
