An Iowa City man has been arrested after he allegedly assaulted his fiancé.

Police say that Sean Michael Davis of Grantwood Drive and his fiancé were involved in a domestic dispute Wednesday at 6:45pm when it reportedly turned physical. During the ensuing assault, Davis is accused of breaking the woman’s glasses while they were sitting on her head. He allegedly cocked his arm as if he was going to punch the victim, then pinned her against the hood of a vehicle, leaving an indentation.

Police say the woman had additional scratches, scrapes and marks from recent domestic assaults at Davis’ hand. One mark allegedly was made by Davis holding the woman to the ground and pressing a lit cigarette into her harm. She also had bruising on her shoulder from where Davis grabbed and squeezed her.

Davis was charged with domestic abuse assault on December 19th 2018; he pleaded guilty last April and sentenced to 7 days in jail and community service. He’s now charged with his second domestic abuse assault, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a prison sentence of up to two years. A no-contact order was requested between the two parties.
