The University of Iowa is moving to online classes for at least two weeks after spring break. A university news release says the move is a response to to recent cases of COVID-19 being discovered in Johnson County.

Students will have the option of staying home or returning to campus from March 23rd through April 3rd. Residence halls will reopen as scheduled, including food services. The university says students should make the choice that is best for their own personal health and safety.

School officials also say they’re evaluating how to provide classroom experiences such as laboratory and performance classes, and will have an answer by March 20th.

The university is also preparing plans for telecommuting opportunities, when appropriate, for faculty and staff.

Updates from the university on COVID-19-related plans can be found online at coronavirus.uiowa.edu.
