A Des Moines man has been taken into custody on a sexual abuse warrant stemming from a 2019 incident at a Coralville hotel.

According to police, then 18-year-old Ernest Seaton and a woman were in a room at the Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in the early hours of July 7th. Seaton allegedly attempted to have sexual intercourse with the victim, but she told him that she did not want to.

Seaton is then accused of holding the woman down on the bed by grasping her wrists and having intercourse with her against her will.

A warrant was issued for Seaton’s arrest on October 9th, and he was booked into the Johnson County Jail at 2:26am Wednesday. Seaton, who is now 19, has been charged with 3rd degree Sexual Abuse, a Class C Felony punishable by a prison sentence of up to ten years if convicted.
