A West High School student was arrested Thursday after allegedly bringing a BB gun to campus.

Iowa City Police say that a minor was taken into custody but did not release the student’s name.

Principal Gregg Shoultz reported that two students were threatened in person and on line, though the nature of the threats weren’t made specific. Officers were dispatched to the school and the weapon was discovered.

In an email to parents Thursday, Shoultz said, “The student who made the threats left with Iowa City Police and is now being charged for this threatening behavior and for bringing a bb gun to school. These events took place this morning without any disruptions to the school. The West High administration is very appreciative of the students for coming forward and for the swift cooperation by the Iowa City Police.
