Johnson County Sheriff’s Office: Body found in Iowa River may be missing UI student

The body of a missing University of Iowa student may have been found.

According to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office news release, at approximately 1:06 p.m. Tuesday deputies located a body in the Iowa River near 4745 Sand Rd Se, approximately two miles north of Hills. The Johnson County Medical Examiner transported the body to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for an autopsy and positive identification.

Since the November 13, 2019 disappearance of UI student David Le the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has continued its search efforts.  The body that was recovered did have an ID belonging to David Le, however at this time the body has not been positively identified and more information will be released when it is available.
